To foot the bill means to pay for something(mostly used when the amount is large)

Example : I was left to foot the bill after they left suddenly.

Rags to riches is a way of describing a person who starts out in extreme poverty then becomes very wealthy.

Example : I went from rags to riches when my business took off.

4. Live from hand to mouth

A hand-to-mouth existence is a way of life in which you have hardly enough food or money to live on or you have resources just enough to feed you/keep you alive without any facility or luxury.

Example : During lockdown I lived from hand to mouth.

5. Break the bank

Something can break the bank if it’s too costly.

Example : Please give me that watch. It’s costly but surely not going to break the bank.
