I & ME | Are we same?

Which one of the following sentences do you think is grammatically correct?

Nansi and I went to the market.

Nansi and me went to the market. . . .

The first one is correct.

I and me are’t interchangeable.

I is a pronoun that acts as a subject of a sentence.

In the first example, Nansi and I went to the market, both I and Nansi are subjects of the sentence while went is the verb.

Me is a pronoun that acts as an object of a sentence.

I can say, Nansi took me to the market. Nansi is the subject and me is the object in the sentence. Me is needed when someone else is performing the action.

A quick recheck.

Nansi and me went to the market.

Remove ‘and’ and see if you can make two complete sentences.

Nansi went to the market.✅

Me went to the market.❌

It should be ‘I went to the market’.
